Congo's Agricultural Transformation Strategy For Garlic And Other Agriculture in 2024

Jan 25, 2024

The Congo Basin is located in central Africa, with a vast area and warm climate, which is conducive to agricultural production. However, due to long-term historical reasons and geographical constraints, the agricultural development in the region is relatively lagging behind.
The current agricultural development in the Congo Basin is mainly focused on small-scale family farms and plantations, with main crops including corn, cassava, peanuts, coffee, etc. However, due to the lack of modern agricultural technology and funding, farmers often find it difficult to obtain sufficient income and their lives are very difficult.

In order to improve the production of agricultural products, local media ACTUALITE reported that at the Agricultural Enterprise Forum held in Kinshasa, Prime Minister of Congo, Lu Kongde, announced the government's transformation strategy for the agricultural sector from 2024 to 2033, proposing a government strategy based on the following four pillars: improving agricultural productivity; Developing energy and transportation infrastructure; Improving agricultural governance; Strengthen agricultural talent training.

The Democratic Republic of Congo is one of the countries with the greatest agricultural potential in the world. But the country's utilization of this potential is limited, and millions of Congolese people are still in a state of food insecurity. To this end, President Cisekhdi has pledged to prioritize the transformation of the agricultural sector and called for the implementation of "underground soil feedback" activities. 2024 has been designated as the year of agriculture.
